בית החולים הנסן תוכנן ע'י קונרד שיק ונבנה ב-1887, ומופיע ברשימת המבנים המיועדים לשימור בירושלים מטעם המועצה לשימור אתרים (ת.ב.ע. 2097). במשך רוב שנות קיומו היה המבנה סגור לציבור, ורק בשנת 2000 כשעזבו אחרוני החולים שגרו בו התאפשר לפתוח אותו לציבור. משרד הבריאות, שבידיו מופקד הנכס משנת 1952, נענה ליוזמה של הקמת תערוכה שמטרתה,לשמר ולתעד את תולדותיו מתוך מחויבות למקום ולכבודם של האנשים שחיו [...]

מחזור נירנברג, ספר תפילה מאויר מימי–הביניים, מן המעטים ששרדו בשלמותם, מוצג במוזיאון לאחר עבודת שימור מקיפה במעבדותיו.
המחזור גדול–הממדים הועתק ביד בגרמניה ב– 1331 והוא כולל תפילות לכל השנה על–פי המנהג האשכנזי, פירושים ואוסף פיוטים שאין שני לו בגודלו. הוא מעוטר ב– 22 לוחיות צבעוניות עשירות בעלי זהב וכסף. כתב–היד צלח גירוש ותלאות ונשמר מאות שנים בספרייה הלאומית בעיר נירנברג.
